Today, we learned the Fire Union passed the proposed contract and the police management team will still get sizeable raises, the Chief somewhere between $17,000 and $38,000.  In the meantime, the stock market lost 7% – all its gains this year – during the debt ceiling wrangling.  So, while the federal politicians plunder our savings [...]

The mayor and the police and firefighter unions are congratulating themselves for agreeing to end spiking –
padding hours to push up the base pay on which a pension is calculated. They ought to be embarrassed, not triumphant.
